Norman was born and raised in British Columbia, son of a construction worker and farmer. His spiritual journey began at the age of twelve when he accepted the Lord as Saviour, followed by baptism two years later. Donna was born in Ontario, accepted the Lord at the age of six and grew up in Colombia, South America as a missionary kid.
Norman and Donna were individually appointed to missionary service in Colombia, South America with FEB International in the mid-1970s and married in 1976. The initial assignment in Colombia was to a leadership training role in the Colombia Baptist Bible Institute operating in Medellin, Colombia. Donna also assumed the position of field treasurer which she held, almost continuously, during their 18 years in Colombia.
In May 1983 Norman became Colombia Field Coordinator; a position he held until May 1994. Norman led the National Church Association to develop their own administrative structure along with refocusing the reduced number of missionary personnel, after the 1989 evacuation, to a church planting priority. In September of 1994 the Lord opened the door for Norman to join Fellowship International home office staff in Guelph, Ontario.
Norman for more than 15 years managed Fellowship Aid and International Relief (FAIR), the humanitarian and social endeavours of our Fellowship International missionaries and partner agencies worldwide. In September 2016 Norman, officially assumed the half-time role of Associate Director as a transition step towards retirement at some future date. He travels internationally to various projects each year monitoring the emergency and ongoing projects from their initial approval through to the follow-up of ministry accomplished. He presently works from a home office in Drumheller, AB where he and Donna reside.
Norman and Donna have 3 children: Pilar lives in British Columbia; Chantel, married to Brian, lives in Drumheller, AB with four children; and Chris, married to Leah, makes Guelph, Ontario home.
